Dan divides his time between the United States and Mexico, where he lives just outside of Guadalajara, in San Antonio Tlayacapan, a lakeside village nestled in the Sierra Madres. It is there that Dan lives to spoil his two Springer Spaniels—Maggie Mae, his material girl (If you have watched Dan’s videos on the 5 languages of love, appreciation, and respect you’ll know), and the four-legged relationship hero that’s changing the course of communication history—Buddy the Dog.
“I didn’t feel like I had anywhere else to grow.” Dan explains.
“I was at a National Speaker Convention, and I received more awards than any other speaker—not just at the convention, but more than any other speaker had ever won at this event, including number one in sales with 100% customer satisfaction.
I think I won 13 awards total, competing against about 350 other speakers. So, I heard the voice of my mother telling me to quit while I was ahead, and that’s exactly what I did. I announced I was venturing out on my own, and immediately called my mother to tell her what I had done. Of course, she told me I was crazy, and to go back and beg for my job back (she liked the security she thought I had working with the big training companies.) But I convinced her to trust me. Of course she didn’t, and decided instead to manage me, and the rest is history.
I think we make a pretty good team.”

“Well, I think we’re at a place where the collective consciousness has really come to a tipping point. We are all starving for a change in the Relationship—and I mean Relationship with a capital R—that we all have. And people come to me asking so many different questions. I mean every question, every person is so different and multi-faceted, but in essence, those who follow me—or what I teach—start to see a pattern. I mean, we all might seem to have different goals, or we’re trying to meet specific objectives, but what is effective communication? It’s really about demonstrating respect, gratitude, contrition, or appreciation, while getting our own needs met at the same time. And, by the way, doing all of this in a way that your mom would be proud of if she were watching. For me, I have no choice—mine is.”
